Exhibition opening KIRAKIRÀ: the vibrant world of Murakami Takashi
The greatest Japanese contemporary artist on show in Bologna in Galleria Cavour: the pop language of Japan in Bologna for the first time with 40 artworks and, exclusively, in the Louis Vuitton boutique the unique pieces of the LV Heritage, created by the artist in 2003, when he created the Superflat Monogram for the French maison and in 2009 the sequel Superflat First Love.
The exhibition, organized by Contemporary Concept, was included in the official celebrations of the 150th Anniversary between Japan and Italy and also in the cultural events calendar of the Japanese Exhibition 2016.
Murakami’s universe, is in continuous movement between tradition and market: on the one hand the nihonga (traditional painting) and on the other the world of otaku (Japanese subculture), a definition given to the japanese “nerds” devoted to manga, souls and cosplay disguises.
Murakami is also strongly related to the fashion world – his forays with Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Vans, Frisk, Issey Miyake are very famous – and to the music with William Pharrell and Kanye West, always with the intention of creating a kawaii world (cute and sweet), but only in appearance.
