On the occasion of Arte Fiera, Galleria Cavour confirms its renewed role as a cultural epicentre capable of extending its vision of luxury with a view to artistic and human enrichment. In the prestigious rooms of Palazzo Vassè Pietramellara, which represents the historic portion of the section belonging to Gioia Martini, Contemporary Concept presents the exhibition “Marco Glaviano – Fashion portraits” starting on Wednesday 4 February.

This is an exhibition of international importance dedicated to the famous Italian photographer known throughout the world for his rare sensitivity in portraying fashion and its protagonists at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. The author of portraits that have entered the collective consciousness, such as those of stars of the calibre of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova, Glaviano's work not only captures femininity in its most authentic nuances but also describes an era linked to contemporary customs and society.

The exhibition features more than one hundred works that clearly highlight the distinctive traits of his creative genius: the study of the body and light, the dialogue between form and space, and the desire to transform fashion into action and performance. His muses and the female subjects he portrays are never manipulated figures but conscious subjects. In this context, we can fully understand his encounter with another master of photography of the time who played a central role in the 20th century: Helmut Newton, who is one of the great protagonists of the exhibition.

he two photographers, in fact, engaged in a long dialogue throughout their careers, giving rise to one of the most valuable exchanges of artistic views of the time, which began when they first met in Milan in 1968. The exhibition, which includes original materials related to that moment, historical artefacts and a portrait of Glaviano taken by Newton himself, is also an opportunity to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Helmut Newton's only exhibition in Bologna.

Ample space is also given to Glaviano's passion for Polaroids, which he used with great interest not only professionally but also in his most intimate sphere, as he was fascinated by the immediacy of the result and therefore used them to create a veritable visual diary. The exhibition, open until 4 April, is also curated by Alessia Glaviano, head of global PhotoVogue and director of the PhotoVogue Festival. Her words accompany visitors as they discover the wonder of the images but also the creative process: "Beauty is not an accessory value. It is a discipline. A constant attention to the world, to people, to relationships. An idea that permeates everything and requires rigour, responsibility and presence."

The invitation is to abandon the frenzy of our times and reclaim the pleasure of beauty, which must be contemplated slowly and attentively. In this vision, photography becomes a contemplative and shared experience. With this project, Galleria Cavour, under the guidance of Gioia Martini, confirms and strengthens its central role in the city, establishing itself as a crossroads of ideas, creativity and art in all its forms.
