The story of Galleria Cavour

Galleria Cavour was founded at the end of the 1950s in the post-war period when the city of Bologna looked at the future with renewed confidence.

The construction of a new commercial area in the city centre, aroused a great interest in the city, and this is why the owners – the noble Sassoli de Bianchi family – turned to a famous Milanese architect – Guglielmo Ulrich- to carry out the architectural project of a sector of the Galleria Cavour that has its entrance in via L. C. Farini and that extends up to the Tiffany&Co. boutique on one side, and with Prada boutique on the other side.
Galleria Cavour is located in the elegant Palazzo Vassé, renowned not only as a patrician residence, but also a Bologna’s iconic place: lavishly built in the 16th century, partially destroyed during 2nd World War and finally returned to the splendours of the past.

Therefore, it is with great enthusiasm that the city welcomed the “Galleria Cavour” which soon became a tangible example of the revival of the city and of the Italian economic boom.

In Fall 1959 the first shops opened: all belonged to well-known brands, their elegant windows where displaying quality goods and their shelves were filled with exclusive products. Galleria Cavour soon became the ideal place for what, shortly thereafter we started to call “shopping”: the pleasure of finding, choosing and purchasing beautiful memorable objects that contribute to make our life better!

Bologna, like Milan, Rome and Naples finally has its own Gallery, which still today, after more than sixty years is a very pleasant spot overlooking the historical, cultural, elegant and welcoming hub that make the city of Bologna unique.

Past, present and future, appear to be full of interesting surprises. Today, the previously quoted area of Galleria Cavour, has a new owner who is fascinated by its charm and history and is investing both energy and resources to give value to the location, offering to the visitors, an elegant, refined and contemporary atmosphere in which to immerse themselves. The stroll in Galleria Cavour is a cheerful experience: you are greeted by the exuberant ambient fragrance, “Farini 14 – the Perfume of Galleria Cavour”, by pleasant melodies and by sophisticated flower arrangements.

The entrepreneurial project started from a solid investment in Luxury Real Estate, and is going through important renovation works to accomplish an even more beautiful, more comfortable and more welcoming Galleria with its 13 flagship stores of the most important Italian and International luxury brands.
The entire building complex will become a cultural space with a rich calendar of events that will take place both in the Gallery and in the Palazzo Vassé which, with its wonderful Meridiana (Sundial) and the splendour of its Hall of Honor, is increasingly an appreciated venue for meetings, catwalks and parties.
