Bologna increasingly the capital of luxury
In recent years, the city of Bologna has increasingly established itself as one of Italy’s top tourist destinations. The city’s fame, preceded by its centuries-old history, has literally taken off, thanks first and foremost to its delicious cuisine, renowned throughout the world for its refined local products and the high quality of its restaurants.
However, Bologna also continues to stand out as a city capable of promoting luxury as a precious asset, an artistic, artisan and economic heritage. This is another reason why its name is often synonymous with prestige and excellence.
Galleria Cavour is one of the city’s emblems of elegance, a symbol of beauty and of an all-Italian hospitality that is unparalleled throughout the world. Its important shop windows, its emblematic perfume, and the history that surrounds it attract visitors curious about the latest fashions and the ever new and sophisticated displays.
Another great resource of the Bolognese panorama in the field of luxury are the formidable automobile excellences: Maserati, Ducati, Ferrari and Lamborghini find their main headquarters in the Region, which, with circuits, exhibitions and showrooms, consecrate a regional tradition exported all over the world. Luxury is also synonymous with art.
Over the years, the city has enhanced its architectural gems, such as the Portici, which recently became a UNESCO heritage site, but it has also hosted internationally renowned exhibitions of immeasurable artistic value. A few examples? The first retrospective of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum dedicated to the myth of David Bowie chose Bologna and its contemporary art museum as the only Italian venue for the travelling exhibition. Palazzo Fava hosted the much-visited Golden Age exhibition, bringing Johannes Veermer’s masterpiece The Girl with the Pearl Earring to the city.
Monet and the Impressionists were among the protagonists of one of the most acclaimed exhibitions at Palazzo Albergati. These are clear signs of the city’s focus on the promotion of luxury and beauty in all its forms: from food to culture, from the territory to fashion, Bologna is projecting itself onto increasingly international scenarios.
