Bottega Veneta and the Academy of the Leather Master Craftsmen
In a world more and more dominated by technology and large scale industrial productions, the art of craftsmanship not only becomes a precious rarity but it also turns into a heritage to protect.
Many of the great fashion houses which nowadays enrich the most famous residences in the Fashion System, from Galleria Cavour in Bologna, to Galeries Lafayette in Parigi or Harrods in London (to name a few), were born in small craft businesses. An example? Bottega Veneta.
The maison has always been proudly protecting its own manufacturing roots, enhancing and safeguarding them. That’s why the project of the Academy of the Leather Master Craftsmen, proudly and succesfully pursued by Bottega Veneta, appears to us a commitment for the future of tradition. It’s a real permanent laboratory: a temple of knowledge where experts and trainers, raised in the business, meet the students and new talents in a setting that nearly reminds of the philosophical school of Athens, where knowledge passes through the art of craftsmanship and talent is pure manual and creative ability.
Therefore the Academy becomes a chance to hand down the craftsmanship that the famous Italian house has always safeguarded, exporting the technique of woven leather worldwide: a trademark of their most iconic accessories. The future of tradition relives in every new creation, capable, as usual, to embody the timeless fascination of contemporarity.
Also in Bologna it’s possible to admire the collections of Bottega Veneta, the boutique is located in Galleria Cavour, in one of the most historical and precious segments, as shown by the fine frescoes on the vaults and ceilings. The flagship store of the maison is open for the entire month of August, from Monday to Saturday.
