From Louis Vuitton to Perrier: Murakami comes back to Galleria Cavour

18 May - 2021

Murakami torna in Galleria Cavour

Fashion is a form of art. In the last few days, Galleria Cavour hosted Perrier’s installation in partnership with Murakami. For the Japanese artist, however, it was a return to Farini 14.

In fact, he was one of the main protagonists of one of the most successful collections of Louis Vuitton, a beloved boutique of Galleria Cavour. It was in 2003 when Marc Jacobs, then art director of the maison, decided to celebrate the dialogue between art e fashion through prominent partnerships with the most important artist of that time. Considered as one of the main representatives of the Eastern culture and the Japanese pop art, Murakami designed for Vuitton a collection as audacious and original as his works.

The famous Cherry Blossom, with cherries superimposed on the LV logo, then became not only the object of any fashionist’s desire, but the representation of a real ode to joy and to the Japanese springtime. The collection flew off the shelves and the combination between Murakami and Louis Vuitton lasted until 2009, confirming that fashion is art and art is fashion. Now, East is back on the stage of Galleria Cavour, right through the new creations by Murakami for Perrier, once again taking a message of rebirth through the codes of genius and art.
