Gioia Martini tributes Raffaella Carrà in Galleria Cavour

14 July - 2021

Artists never die because art is immortal. Strengthened by this belief, Galleria Cavour wanted to celebrate one of the most beloved icons of Bologna in Italy and abroad, who sadly passed away: Raffaella Carrà.

Born in Bologna on June 18th 1943, daughter of a father from Romagna and a mother from Sicily, Raffaella Carrà was able to succeed in any field of art in which she decided to experiment her multifaceted talent. That’s why it’s a paradox to define her with a simple noun: singer? Showgirl? Actress? Anchorwoman? From the art films beside Frank Sinatra and Mario Monicelli to the most iconic Saturday night shows, from the stage of Sanremo to the Spanish and Latin American audiences to the songs which made whole generations dance, regardless of their age.

Everything she touched became popular, without ever losing the class which has always distinguished her: even when, with her uncovered navel, she challenged the strict television censorship. Her unique style (blond bob and infectious laugh) and her beauty, which went beyond time without ever running after it, will remain in our hearts.

For that reason, Galleria Cavour wanted to celebrate her memory in her native Bologna. In the days following her passing, in fact, the visitors who walked through our showcases were welcomed by the soundtrack of her famous singing repertoire.

This tribute was strongly felt by Gioia Martini and the whole ownership, to salute a great artist and to tell her that Bologna will keep her in its heart forever.
