Palazzo Vassé Pietramellara jewel of the FAI Autumn Days
Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October Palazzo Vassé Pietramellara, one of the most important patrician residences in Bologna and historical part of the Galleria Cavour complex which still today, with its majestic frescoed ceilings, enriches some of its most prestigious shops, will open its doors to great audience.
Built in the sixteenth century, the magnificent residence frames the history of the Vassé family, following the splendor of relations with the papacy and the cultural fabric of the city. For this reason too, its halls contain the priceless work of artists and painters of the time, as evidenced by the wonderful Meridiana room which, amidst holes and plays of light, even allows you to scrutinize the night sky. After the bombings of the Second World War and its reconstruction, today the property belongs to the lawyer Gioia Martini, an admirer of art and culture.
It is thanks to his intercession that the residence, on the dates indicated above, will be the protagonist of the FAI Autumn days, in the usual national event that the institution, which has been protecting the beauties of Italian heritage since 1975, has been promoting throughout the Peninsula. In fact, since the year of its birth, the FAI (Fund for the Italian Environment) has been involved in enhancing our urban and environmental territory through guided tours and meetings in places that symbolize splendor, art and history.
The event is part of the fundraising campaign “Let’s remember to save Italy” which for eleven years the association has been carrying out through the discovery of palaces, villas, churches, castles, archaeological areas, villages, gardens and sites of interest shown through the passionate and original gaze of its young volunteers. The national autumn days are now a tradition for members and admirers of culture registered with the institution. This year, as will soon be announced at a press conference at Palazzo d’Accursio, Palazzo Vassé Pietramellara stands out among the sites proposed in the presence of the main city officials. The opening is reserved for FAI members and is scheduled for the dates indicated above from 10 am to 6 pm.
