Galleria Cavour supports the Loto Association

7 May - 2026

Associazione Loto - Galleria Cavour

On Friday 8 May, to mark World Ovarian Cancer Day, Galleria Cavour will be actively participating in the charity initiative organised by the Loto Association to raise funds, known as “Peonie Solidali”.

On that date, a charity stall selling peonies will be set up right in the Galleria. All proceeds from the initiative will go towards the refurbishment of Casa Loto, a new centre dedicated to women with gynaecological cancers and to supporting their families.

This centre will also be open to the public as a place for meeting, prevention, information and raising awareness about women’s health. To further support this noble initiative, Gioia Martini has chosen to present each boutique with a bouquet of peonies accompanied by an elegant vase.

This gesture, as well as making a tangible contribution to the association’s fundraising efforts, aims to demonstrate concrete participation in the project and a shared commitment to the values that the initiative promotes. We invite customers and visitors to Galleria Cavour to come along in large numbers, making their own personal contribution and following the example of their favourite boutiques, all of which will be displaying peonies from the Loto association on the day as a sign of heartfelt support.

The non-profit organisation was founded, incidentally, right here in Bologna in 2013 on the initiative of a group of patients, family members and professionals to fill the gap caused by the lack of information on ovarian cancer, which is, in fact, one of the most aggressive female cancers and one of the most difficult to diagnose at an early stage. It was founded by the current president, Sandra Balboni, following her personal experience with the disease.

Today, Loto is not only concerned with theoretical information, but its mission is one of active engagement within the local community. Ovarian cancer is often described as ‘silent’ because it has no obvious symptoms in the early stages and there is still no effective screening method. This is why the work of the Loto association is crucial: it helps with prevention and ensures women are not left alone during their illness. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 8 May in Galleria Cavour to do your bit.
