Mario Matera on show in Bologna at Simon Bart Gallery

“A Tale of Her” is the title of the exhibition that the prestigious contemporary art gallery Simon Bart Gallery has dedicated to the visionary artist Mario Matera, open to the public until 19 April 2025.

Indeed, the title of the exhibition well describes the work of this refined observer of female beauty, capable like few of immortalising in a portrait the different facets that characterise the universe of women. His faces, characterised by a unique, layered and immediately recognisable technique, have in fact become a stylistic feature of rare elegance that has led him to receive important recognition inside and outside Italy with successful exhibitions that have touched places such as Paris, Berlin, Moscow and Capri.

Now his works arrive in Bologna, a few steps away from Galleria Cavour, in a precious and exclusive location such as the Simon Bart Gallery. The opening event, curated by Eventi & PopCorn, allowed the selected guests of the vernissage to get to know the artist, who was present at the opening cocktail, and his world of art, research and self-exploration first-hand.

Over time, in fact, Mario Matera’s creative activity has undergone a real evolution, passing from pencil drawings to more layered and fluid surfaces thanks to the skilful use of techniques and materials ranging from the spatula to the scraping of pictorial layers to borders. Her portraits of women are thus presented as articulated structures capable of conveying intense emotions and capturing the complexity of the female aesthetic and soul.

The exhibition is also an opportunity to get to know a precious setting such as the Simon Bart Gallery, by now a reference point of excellence for contemporary art lovers and a cultural beacon capable of bringing the most important names on the current art scene to the city. Besides Bologna, the aforementioned art gallery boasts venues in the exclusive resorts of Porto Cervo and Poltu Quatu where, over time, it has become the protagonist of renowned exhibitions that have enchanted visitors and clients from all over the world.
